    Chez Nous was originally the Owner's private accommodation and is now high-quality accommodation which can be let on its own, or with neighbouring Maison de Ferme or with the two gites Chez Ami and Chez Papi.

    Being a spacious and single storey with only a few internal steps, Chez Nous is ideal for anyone with mild mobility issues and has quite the finest large sun terrace complemented with a substantial vine and wisteria clad arbour for shade.

  • Arriving at Vieux Mirou there is a large off-road parking area for several cars.

    Passing under the rose arch, the paved and gravelled terrace with flower beds, fountain and raised fish pond lead to the door of Chez Nous.

    Doors lead off the terrace into the Dining/Sitting room, the Kitchen and the second bedroom. Entering the Kitchen, there is a range of units with worktops: The unique doors of the units were custom made by John Perry, the Owner, from old barrels, and have a beautiful rustic curve. The well-equipped kitchen includes a gas cooker, microwave, fridge with freezer compartment and a good selection of utensils. A door from the kitchen leads to the rear garden.

    The first bedroom is the large Master Bedroom with a double bed and sofa bed, with a large en suite bathroom with bath, shower, basins and WC.

    The second bedroom, a twin room, can either be accessed through the Master Bedroom or from the outdoor terrace. This has an ensuite shower room with a basin and WC.

    Returning to the Kitchen, a couple of steps down bring you into the large Sitting/Dining room with an open fireplace, dining table and chairs, and soft seating, The thick stone walls and traditionally built roof make this a cool escape from fierce heat outdoors if necessary. 

    Doors open onto the magnificent sun terrace, with a beautiful southerly aspect and view over unspoiled agricultural land to the south, west and north.  

  • Undoubtedly the sun terrace is the finest feature of Chez Nous, with plenty of outdoor furniture including sun loungers and sunshades enabling guests to make the most of the sun however they choose.  Shade is provided by a large wisteria and vine-clad arbour.

    There are two options for the Swimming Pool. If Chez Nous is the only unit booked, Guests will normally share the large 12 x 8m swimming pool which is a short walk across the garden (see annotated plan)

    If Chez Nous is booked with Maison de Ferme, or if Maison de Ferme is not booked, Guests will have the option of exclusive use of the 9x4m pool which is accessed by the rear garden.

    There is a gently sloping landscaped garden of around 1ha which offers a number of quiet sunny and shady spaces for guests to escape to privacy as they wish.

    Dausse (3km) has some shops and a boulangerie, and also one of the finest gastro restaurants in the area. For supermarket shopping, guests should head for Montaigu de Quercy (7km), or Villeneuve Sur Lot (13km) Please see the Area information above for additional details on local amenities.

  • Vieux Mirou is just off a road that runs between Penne d'Agenais and Montaigu de Quercy: Heading for Penne d'Agenais takes you to the banks of the River Lot and all the activities on the river such as fishing, canoeing and boat hire: Heading towards Montaigu de Quercy takes you into the heart of the rolling countryside of the Quercy with a very large range of crops and vegetables growing, alongside sunflowers, cereals and vines.

    Much of the local produce can be bought at markets, and there are lists of the local markets on the Area information at the top of this page, along with other restaurant recommendations and wineries. The area to the east of Penne d'Agenais and along the River Lot is the heartland of the Cahors AOC with a large number of wineries offering tastings and direct sales of the delicious red and white wines.

    For something curious, head across the river at Penne d'Agenais to find La Stelsia, a colourful park where you can freely wander around the manicured parkland, and enjoy excellent food and drink in the restaurants if you wish: If you fancy a testing crazy golf course, this is the place to go!

    Heading to the north on the other side of the river you will find a number of castles: Biron and Bonaguil are the most complete, and both open to visitors, and you will find other ruins as you travel.

    This is the country of bastide villages - fortified hilltop villages, and within easy reach of Vieux Mirou, you can wander the streets of Pujols. Lauzerte, Montaigu de Quercy, Tournon d'Agenais, Monflanquin and Villereal and marvel at the medieval timbered buildings that still survive today.

    Historic Cahors is the gateway to cave country, and guests can visit a number of caves in the limestone area including Pech Merle, and a little further away the world-famous Lascaux cave paintings.

  • Booking notes

    Linen & Towels -  Bed linen and Towels are included in the price of your booking.  Pool towels and baby linen are not included unless otherwise stated. 

    Baby equipment - If not included in your rental, High Chairs, Travel cots and Play pens are available to rent at £GBP20 /week / item: Please indicate these on your Booking Form. 

    Arrival & Departure - Guest are requested not to arrive before 16h00 on the day of arrival, and to depart by 10h00 on the day of departure.   Bookings in July and August will run from SATURDAY TO SATURDAY. 

    Cleaning -  There is no fixed cleaning charge at this property. Guests are requested to leave the property in the same state of cleanliness as it was found, and to co-operate with any departure requests from the Managers. 

    End of Stay cleaning at Chez Nous may be available on request: It is at the discretion of the Caretakers/Managers, and must strictly be arranged in advance of your stay. Please contact HL for further information and cost. 

    Security Deposit -  A Security Deposit of £300 will be added to your invoice.  This will normally be repaid during the week after your booking ends.  

    Prices - Using the drop down at the top right of the Calendar, prices can be displayed in £GBP . €EUR or $USD. For other currencies please request confirmation from HL. 

    Payments - Payments can be by Bank Transfer, Credit Card or cheque.  Customers paying by card on UK £GBP accounts can also pay by Debit card.  

    Booking Procedure:  Please submit a Reservation Request Form (blue button 'Book Now' under the Availability Calendar): This will be acknowledged, and we will confirm availability with the Property Managers. 

    Once confirmed, we will request a DEPOSIT, normally 20% of the Tariff, and hold the booking in your name for up to 3 days while payment of the deposit is arranged. 

    The booking is confirmed when the deposit is received, and you will receive an Invoice for the balance plus the Security Deposit and any extra items ordered to be paid no less than 8 weeks before the Arrival date (or immediately if the booking is less than 8 weeks away) 

    When payment of the invoice is received you will receive directions to the property and also access information.
