    Carefully renovated from a traditional small farmhouse several years ago, Roucou sits on the south-facing side of a wooded valley with spectacular views. Anyone staying at Roucou should pack binoculars or a telescope to make the most of the scenery and wildlife that may be seen in the woods around the valley.

    The house accommodates up to 4 people in 2 bedrooms (Double and Twin) and an Annexe by the swimming pool offers a further twin bedroom. (note - The Annexe will not be let separately)

    A natural sun trap, Roucou is family-friendly, but also makes a very romantic place for a couple to spend time together away from the stresses of life.

  • NOTE: As the access to the Annexe is through the pool enclosure, it is not considered suitable for young children.

    The House
    Arriving at Roucou, roadside parking is available off the small country road on which the house sits.

    Roucou is built on the side of a sloping site, and the house is down a flight of paved steps to a large covered porch which also acts as a shaded terrace. Entering the house, the first room is the Kitchen

    The Kitchen has a run of fitted units, with hob and oven with extractor, fridge/freezer, microwave and dishwasher. A pine country style dining table and chairs with a complementary dresser complete the kitchen furniture.

    Leading through from the Kitchen is the Sitting room which has a large modular L shaped sofa and armchairs, and the Television is also here.

    With windows on the south side and high ceilings, the Kitchen and Sitting room are light and airy.

    Narrow stairs in the corner lead down to the Lower level where the two Bedrooms and Bathroom are situated.
    Both bedrooms have glazed doors that open onto a level terrace area which catches the sun very early in the morning and on through the day, and guests can sit outside on this terrace in perfect privacy. 

    Bathing facilities are included in both bedrooms: The Double bedroom has a vanity basin in the room, and the Twin bedroom has an ensuite shower room. There is also a separate Shower room which includes a WC.
    The Washing machine is tucked into a small alcove, and there is also a laundry cupboard.

    Heating is available by a wood-burning stove in the Kitchen or electric radiators.

    The Annexe
    Accessed through the Swimming Pool enclosure is a separate annexe with a Twin bedroom and en suite Shower room. There are booking options to exclude this annexe if your party is 4 people or less.

    This opens directly onto the pool terrace, and a table and chairs are provided for outdoor use.

  • The sloping area outside has been terraced and grassed, and there are several items for younger children to play on in the garden, and a pathway leading into the wood at the end of the garden holds a very pleasant surprise for the small ones.

    Secured within a fenced enclosure, the Swimming Pool measures 10 x 5m. Purity is maintained by salt, and there are Roman steps for ease of access. Loungers and shades are provided.

    Sun and shade can be found as required throughout the site, and a charcoal barbecue is provided for outdoor cooking. However, the main feature outdoors is the view across the wooded valley which is unspoilt and offers the sights and sounds of woodland and meadow as they vary throughout the seasons.

  • A short drive from Roucou, Lauzerte has a supermarket and a further selection of shops and restaurants, as does Montcuq about 10km further away.

    Lauzerte is listed among 'Les Plus Beaux Villages de France'. It has a Medieval fortified village perched on a hilltop at its heart, with a picturesque square. Narrow streets lined by medieval timbered buildings spread across the town to the fortifications around the side, with spectacular views across the countryside at all points of the compass. A Tourist Information office is found on the Square.

    Many other historic towns and villages dot the region with their own characteristics and charm, and there is Roman history at Cahors, along with the medieval Pont Valentré across the River Lot.

    Lauzerte is also on one of the Routes de Saint Jacques, which converge in the Pyrenees before going on to Santiago de Compostela in Northern Spain. There are several other local walking routes.

    The area is rich in food and drink, with a vineyard a few yards down the road from Roucou: Wineries around the area offer tastings and direct purchase of excellent Cahors wines, and further details can be obtained from information in The Area section of this site found on the menu at the top of this page.

    Soft fruit is also produced in abundance, with apple, pear, peach and apricot orchards nearby alongside walnut trees and hazel groves.

    Many of these products, both fresh and preserved, are available at the markets held in larger villages and towns throughout the region on most days of the week. Lauzerte has a market on Saturday morning, and Montcuq on a Sunday morning. A list covering other villages is in the Area information at the top of the page.

  • Booking notes

    • All prices include Linen (Bed linen, bathroom towels & kitchen towels). Pool towels and baby linen are not included unless otherwise stated.
    • Cot, High Chair & Playpen are available to hire at £15/week/item - Please indicate these items on your Booking Form.
    • A Security Deposit is also payable, and this is usually refunded (less any deductions) within one week of the end of your stay.
    • Cleaning at the end of your stay is not included: It may be available as an option, but this (and any other services required) should be booked well in advance of your stay to ensure availability.
    • All prices are in £GBP: Payments can accepted be in £GBP or €EUR  Please contact Halcyon Leisure to confirm prices and methods of payment in $USD, $CAN and other currencies.

How to make a provisional booking.

Booking - Click on the start date of your holiday, then on the departure date of your holiday. you will then see a pop-up box with the chosen dates and availability. Click the  "BOOK NOW"  button which will show the provisional booking form to fill out. Enter your details, payment methods and any extra services required then click the continue button at the bottom. You will then be shown a payment summary but you will not be asked to make any payment online

Payment - Payment can be made by any of the following methods in £GBP or €EUR .

  • Debit / Credit card over the phone - our office number is 01460 30200.
  • Direct bank transfer - please contact us for account details.
  • Cheque, payable to Halcyon Leisure.
