Agen: The County town of the Lot-et-Garonne which changed hands 11 times during the hundred years war and is well known for its plums (pruneaux). On the banks of the Garonne river it has a beautiful museum housed in four Renaissance houses.
Nerac
:  Henry IV ‘s grandfather built the Chateau at  Nerac which  is worth visiting along with the Musee Henri IV, which gives a history of the town that has many  interesting 17thC buildings.
Castlemoron:
Just downstream at Grange-sur-Lot is the Prune Museum which offers tastings, a guide of the old drying ovens, prune jammery and chocolaterie.

"Joye was an ancient inn on the route of Henri IV up until the time of the Revolution. The plan of 1810 shows the presence of stables where the pool is now situated.  During the recent renovation an ancient door has been discovered underneath the stone bridge.

Joye is a splendid 13th Century country property that has been superbly renovated and furnished. It is set in acres of grounds with many mature trees and is surrounded by rolling countryside. Within the grounds is a natural water source and the old forge in the original barn. To the left of the dining terrace is a large open barn that is ideal for al fresco meals and relaxing,  The creative evening lighting amongst the trees adds a touch of magic to summer nights.

Accommodation:  To the front of the house is an attractive dining terrace with an open barn on the left. The barn leads through to a little garden that is situated at the back of the house. The main living room  has a sitting area in front of the central fireplace.  The spacious kitchen and dining area is traditionally furnished and has all modern facilities including, fridge, freezer, oven and hob. On the upper floor there is a double and a twin bedroom and a spacious bathroom with wc and basin.

A small stone bridge leads into the tower that forms part of the second house.  The beautiful bed-sitting room has high beamed ceilings and is superbly furnished. The full size single sleigh bed is for guests use if required.


On the lower floor the sitting room has a double convertible bed-settee,  TV/DVD/CD and a small lobby to the right which is ideal for a cot or storage. Shower room with separate WC.  The sitting room opens onto the rear terrace that has a covered arbour. To the left is a little fitted kitchen with microwave and fridge.  This is ideal for guests  using the pool and living in this part of the house.
