"What the owner says"

“It is difficult to describe what happens to people after staying at Barreau. When we first saw the property we were overwhelmed with the breathtaking views and the total feeling of peace and tranquility.  It is a very special place in our lives and we hope that our guests will leave with the same feeling.”

Barreau nestles in four acres in a tranquil hillside position and is surrounded by woodland, farms and orchards with panoramic views of the Quercy countryside.  The farmhouse, built in 1700, and the barn have been tastefully restored using traditional methods; both properties have the wonderful white stone walls and beamed ceilings characteristic of the area, and are beautifully furnished.  Roquecor (2km) has a restaurant and shops and Montaigu de Quercy (5km) has a larger range of shops and restaurants and leisure lake, with swimming, boating and picnic facilities.  Nearest main towns:  Villeneuve sur Lot - 25 minutes.

Accommodation:  The farmhouse - The main entrance to Barreau is through the  large sun-room which overlooks the long stone front terrace which has a small covered dining barn with a summer kitchen.  The lovely light sun-room opens into the eat-in-kitchen that is fully equipped with electric hob, oven, two fridges and a freezer. The kitchen leads into the spacious comfortable sitting and dining room that has a central wood burning stove, telephone, and a door also leading onto the front terrace, that is ideal for alfresco meals.

The master bedroom, with its 19th century French furniture has a large dressing area and there is a second double bedroom, a shower-room with wc and basin and a family bathroom with wc and basin.

The Barn:  Opposite the farmhouse is the "barn" which was very recently restored and now offers a very spacious double bedroom with French style bed, a small sitting room, a shower-room with wc and basin and a twin bedroom situated on the second floor.  The utility room in the barn has a washing machine, dryer, and the central heating boiler.

The terraced pool is surrounded by lavender bushes and mature trees and shrubs. Barreau is close to local amenities but is totally private and secluded and guests will enjoy the grounds and walks and superb panoramic views that add to its warm and idyllic ambience.

"We have spent a beautiful week here, loved the garden, the views, the little walks, the lavender, the table tennis, the house so well-equipped, the pool, having long leisurely breakfasts, playing boules on the gravel.  We wish it could be longer!"
